Is dcpromo gone for good? Well it is in the latest Windows Developer Edition of Microsoft Server 8. The team at AdminNation.com decided to try and install Active Directory Domain. We noticed right away Dcpromo no longer worked. Instead you are greeted with a message stating:

Microsoft released Windows Server 8 Developer Preview (pre-beta version) at the BUILD conference yesterday. While we don’t’ know when the actual release date will be, we wanted to share with you what we do know. Windows Server 8 is designed to manage groups of systems, and not individual systems. We are told that there is a PowerShell command for every action that can be done in the GUI.
